Imagine Your Story: Comics! July 2

This week in the HLS summer reading program, we are exploring comics and superheroes!

Story Time!

Read Stinky by Eleanor Davis.

Writing Time!

Watch Dave McDonald’s video, “Making BIG BOLD Lettering.” What kind of lettering are you using in your comic? This video has given me some new ideas!

STEAM Time!

With villains running around our cities in our comics and superhero stories, we will need buildings that can stand up to all that might be happening in our comic. Today your job is to build a building that will NOT fall down.

You can use most any of our normal STEAM supplies.

  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Sticks
  • Straws
  • Toilet paper or paper towel rolls
  • String or yarn
  • LEGOs
  • Blocks

Feel free to decorate your building. MAKE IT AWESOME!

When you are finished creating your building, take a picture and post it in the comments below. Tell us what makes your building strong and how it is able to stand up to whatever our superheroes and villains throw at it.

When you are finished creating your building, take a picture and post it in the comments to share it with us!
