Read The Knight and the Dragon by Tomie dePaola.

Craft Time! Dragon Eggs

For any students in my class last year, you will be very familiar with what we are going to make today. We are going to make a dragon egg. Here are two different types of dragon eggs you can make.

Dragon Egg Type 1

You will need:

  • Plastic Easter egg
  • Hot glue
  • Paint
  • Glitter

You can use the hot glue to add texture to the eggs (ask a grownup to help!). Drizzle glue in lines and bumps as you desire. After the glue has dried, use the paint and glitter to decorate your egg.

Dragon Egg Type 2

You will need:

  • Styrofoam eggs
  • Thumbtacks
  • Thick cardboard
  • Paint
  • Clear nail polish

Push the thumbtacks into thick cardboard to get ready to paint them.

Paint the thumbtacks, let them dry.

Put a coat of clear nail polish on the thumbtacks.

Remove the thumbtacks from the cardboard. Starting in the center top of the egg, place the first thumbtack.

Add thumbtacks in rounds until you have fully covered the egg.

Now you will need a nest for your dragon eggs to rest in. Create a nest and wait for your dragons to hatch.

Here are some of our dragon eggs.
