It’s August, and that means it’s time for school to start! Here are five back-to-school events you won’t want to miss:
Tuesday, Aug. 8 and Wednesday, Aug. 9 from 9 AM to 8 PM
Families are welcome to help clean the school — keeping our school looking sharp is a team effort, and we appreciate your help.
Back-to-school parent meeting
Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 6 PM/6:30 PM
New parents will meet at 6 PM at St. Peter’s parish hall, and returning parents will meet at 6:30 PM. An open house will follow at Hampton Lutheran School.
Tuesday, Aug. 15 from 5-7 PM
Join us for a time of prayer before the first day of the school year. This evening is a time set aside to come before our Lord, our everlasting Rock, and to lift up our school in prayer. Come as you are, pray, and leave as you need. Pray in the classrooms, hallways, at your student’s desk, and at their classmates’ desks. Pray on the playground. You are welcome to pray aloud with others or by yourself. Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance as we begin our year. Lift up our students, staff, families, and supporters in prayer. Most of all, together we ask that God be glorified in all things!
First day of school
Wednesday, Aug. 16 from 8:15-11:30 AM
Parents are welcome to join the students and teachers for an opening chapel service at 8:30 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church across the street from the school. After chapel, children will return to their classrooms, and there will be an adult fellowship time in St. Peter’s fellowship hall. During the fellowship time, you can learn about the HLS prayer team that meets weekly to pray for our children and school. We’ll talk about the team’s purpose and its meeting times. Remember, there will be no bus service until Wednesday, Aug. 23.
Sunday, Aug. 27 at 6 PM
HLS Booster Club will host our back-to-school picnic at Cole Park in Aurora. All HLS families, staff, and board members are welcome to attend. The meal, ice cream sundaes, and table service are provided.
